Ron Moody was approached by the producers to be the third Doctor, but he turned down the role. He has stated in interviews that turning down the role was the worst thing he ever did professionally - every time he hears the familar Doctor Who theme tune he kicks himself.

Yeah, but 'Into the Labyrinth' Rocks! And he had to fight Toos, not to mention gratuitous use of Welsh caves second only to "Doctor Who And The Silurians" for great spelunking!
