So the whole plan of the Sarah Jane Adventures Death Of The Doctor was to have Sarah Jane Smith and Jo Grant to think about the TARDIS key, and make one from their memories using the Memory Weave, OK I fall for that, however...
The TARDIS key started off as Yale style, like it is today, however at some point during the third Doctor, he began experimenting with new designs for the TARDIS key, coming up with several alternative designs, settling on a spade-shaped silver key. The Fourth Doctor experimented with even more radical designs, which included a double-helix apparently made of plastic, before eventually going back to the Yale style for the ninth Generation.
So Jo Grants memory of the TARDIS key may not be of the Yale type it is today, and unless Sarah Jane has had a good look at the key recently (unlikely), she will remember a non-Yale style.
More about the TARDIS key.

Good point. Unless the TARDIS being there helped stray their memories into the current key.
Though I did have a plot hole? of my own, if the Doctor used a biological transfer with Clyde, why did their clothes change?
I would think it quite amusing, especially for the kids, to have Clyde and Doctor in each others clothes.
A bit of cross-dressing (between Human and Time Lord - ha!) never hurt anyone
I thought this as well. Why didn't the monsters just take the Doctor's key! It's ridiculous!
good point there too :)
i so thought of this too when i was watching cus both Jo 7 Sarah are old companions and would have seen the old key not the new "normal" one.
The Doctor's key was locked in the Tardis like he said. So the Shansheeth couldn't have taken his.
Nuh-uh, he said that he had the original with him and offered it to the Shansheeth. Besides, how could he get back in without a key?
Perhaps that didn't physically catch hold of him and his pockets are bottomless? I don't know
basically wed need companions from doctors 1 or 2 (if thats yale lock was the smae as this), or ones from new who, or perhaps liz shaw.
He could get back in simply by snapping his fingers. We've seen that happen twice so far. Still, SJA is a kid's show. Not much hope of canon and continuity there, is there? ;)
Also, & the Moff is guilty of this too, when did Memory become so damn important to the show?
This is a really good point.
One other thing is, if the Shansheeth are renowned universal undertakers, how come we have never heard of them before? Very suspicious.
And speaking of regeneration, as these eps did, I'm still waiting for an explanation of how the Doctor's clothes regenerated the 1st and 4th times. That is obviously a big mystery that needs to be resolved.
you want a plot hole?
how about nearly everything that came out of the Groske's mouth?
Saying cryptic things about The Doctor not actually being dead and coming back?
This is why I dont miss RTD's writing
Another big mystery that needs to be resolved is how Russell Davies, hack that he is, is considered a great tele-writer in Britain.
Yea I was waiting for the key to turn into the old key only for the aliens to find out that doctor had updated the locks. I seriously thought that was gonna be how the alien's plan would be foiled. it would've been hilarious if so lol.
That was exactly what I thought too. I knew the key was different because a long time ago during a pledge drive for our local PBS station they had a contest to win a TARDIS key keychain and I won one for my husband. I'm glad that someone else caught that. :)
Yeah, as soon as that Groske started with the "he is coming" bullcrap I facepalmed. Why the edging prophecies all the time, Davies? If you ever bothered to explain them it might not be so bad, but you don't! We still don't have any explanation for the "knock four times" nonsense, or why everyone knew Donna was super *before* she was the Doctor-Donna. You've got some neat tricks, but it's hackish stuff like prophecies that make me glad you're off DW now.
