Doctor Who Of The Day - Celery
In The Hungry Earth, the Doctor asks for a stick of celery after the decontamination, a reference to the Fifth Doctor, who wore a stick of celery on his lapel and stated it was to detect certain gasses and was also an excellent restorative.
Yeah, I actually laughed out loud at that line. At the time, Time Crash was still fresh in my mind, what with Ten totally making fun of Five's celery. I occasionally like to think that the multi-Doctor stories are just brilliant excuses for the show to be a bit self-referential -not to mention downright self-deprecating at times- about the show's past through the eyes of the current Doctor.
I think that because I once read a webcomic on DeviantArt that was made by a fan where Amy was looking at images of all the previous incarnations of the Doctor and asking who they were, and the Doctor describing that it was him, but during a certain period of his life. My favorite one by far was when they got to Six, and the Doctor describes it as "That's me... During my rebellious phase." :D
