Matt Smith for Series 7 of Doctor Who

Matt Smith has revealed that he is going back to film next years series of Doctor Who.

This follows rumours that he will leave, that I never believed, isn't he contracted for three years anyhow?

Excellent news! He's quite a modest person as well.

"I’m going back this year," he said. "I guess [I'll] get another one out the way, see what everyone thinks of that. I love doing it, I don’t want to give it up anytime soon, put it that way."

So I guess this means that Series 7 is on.

I hope Amy and Rory are leaving after series 6. Two years in the most time afforded to modern companions (although Freema and Catherine only got one).

I also think it's time for Amy to depart. Matt Smith could do with a new companion, as David Tennant certainly benefited from 3 in 4 years. Amy's character is quite irritating sometimes, and it detracts from the excellent stories.

5 year contracts mean zero in the entertainment business, but I'm pleased they have now officially confirmed series 7
Theres a real danger that Moffat's long game has been too long this season, but I put the this year's confusion at the door of the schedulers myself.

Gonna miss Rory: he has been great.
I'd like to see Jenny (from AGMGTW) tag along next year.
I'd like to see those redesigned Yeti show up.
And I'd like to see a back to the future 2 style episode where Matt is working behind the scenes of an existing story. (Bit like the DS9 episode that mashed up 'Trouble with Tribbles)
