The Start of Arthur Darvill's Globe Theatre Role — The End of Doctor Who's Rory Williams?

Location for "Shakespeare Globe".
Filming for the post-Series 6 Christmas special is expected during the summer lapse in broadcast, and Arthur Darvill will almost certainly not be a part of it. Does this mean the end of companion Rory Williams and thus Amy Pond?

The Shakespeare's Globe have announced casting for their forthcoming play, Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus; the titular role will be played by Paul Hilton (whose television credits include Silk), with the evil spirit Mephistopheles that 'serves' him in the story to be played by Arthur Darvill - the actor is, of course, currently starring in Doctor Who as TARDIS traveller Rory Williams.
The play, Doctor Faustus will run from 18 June to 2 October of this year, a run that will almost certainly elapse the span of Series 7 filming. It is believed that filming earlier this year saw the departure of Amy Pond, with a solemn Doctor withdrawing alone into the TARDIS. Rory's absence in Series 7 therefore suggests that Karen Gillan will also not be planning on an appearance for next year, since the two characters are inextricably linked.

so we can guess from this - rory leaves at the end of the series, amy and rory leaves at the end of the series, the doctor goes and has an adventure without any and rory, but they are back for s7, rory is in the xmas show, but records his scenes at a later date, studio work only perhaps?

It'll be a shame to see him go as rory is a funny character and as for Karen....well I honestly didn't think they'd be keeping her for a 3rd year.

I think where they're saying goodbye to The Doctor is when he heads of to Utah to get shot, as the scenes between River and Amy is after The Doctor is dead as she was 'very sad'.

There were those candid on-set shots a while back where Karen looked like she was having a good-bye scene with the Doctor.

I suspect when they leave the series as regulars for the rest of Matt's tenure they'll probably be back on occasion as the Doctor visits them. I think when they exit they will still be back from time to time in the Moffat era.

I wonder if it means we'll see some scene that is the reverse of the shot of from 2020 where future Amy and Rory wave to the gang from across the meadow?

It was very much expected as karen said that she was doing that new BBC 4 show "for after she finished Who"

Wonder if it might herald River being a more full time companion for part or all of season 7 next year?

In the first scene in Impossible Astronaut, they already left the Doctor for two months...
