John Barrowman Open to a Return to Doctor Who

TV news site Zap2it briefly interviewed John Barrowman on the set of Torchwood: Miracle Day and revealed that Captain Jack Harkness could always return to Doctor Who.
"I've always said that if I'm asked to go back to 'Doctor Who,' I'll go at the drop of a hat. That's where Captain Jack got his beginnings. And it's already been discussed."
Barrowman says that both "Torchwood" creator Russell T Davies and current "Doctor Who" showrunner Steven Moffat have talked about the possibility of a return for Jack . . .
"It's in the cards, but who knows whether it will happen?" says Barrowman, quick to add that his character does have special ties to David Tennant's version of the Doctor. "I like Matt Smith. He brings his own quirkiness to it... When a new Doctor starts, everybody goes along for the journey because they love the show. But then you attach yourself to that Doctor. There's a whole new generation who are now attached to Matt, and rightly so.... but David Tennant is my Doctor."
Speaking more generally about his work in the US, Barrowman discussed the ties that keep him bound to the UK.
"I run myself like a business, and I enjoy the work I do. Of course I have ambition to work more in the U.S., but I will never turn my back on the U.K. and what I do there.
"I've always said that I would never just give up and leave the U.K. to come and seek work over here, but if work brings me over here, that's a different story. There are plans in the future for me to branch out a little more in this market, because, hey, you need a big swashbuckling gay man to do things, don't ya?"

Jack didn't know the Doctor had regenerated in "Utopia", but who else would have the blue box?

Matt's great but David Tennant is my Doctor...in other words he doesnt like Matt Smith ;D
One part of me wants to see him back basically because I would love to see RTD characters interact with Moffat's like SJ did. Although I do think if he returns, I'd like to see Russel write him :)

I think this would be incredible! I can't wait to see the interaction between the adorably awkward, emotionally guarded Eleven and the brash omnisexual Captain Jack. I just bet he makes Eleven blush like crazy.

Jack, by the way, knows all about regeneration, and the Doctor. I mean, Torchwood was founded to track the Doctor, and he's been in Torchwood for 100 years. He knows. And he wasn't surprised at all to see Ten instead of Nine.

Clearly not a big Smith fan which is a shame. I understand Tennant being 'his Doctor' but perhaps he's forgetting he did more episodes with Mr. Eccleston?

He did five episodes (not including End of Time) with Tennant, five with Eccleston. Jack has had a great run.

By "his Doctor", Barrowman means that Jack is part of the RTD era, and so there's no obligation or expectation to return.

I like Jack, and I'm sure it would be a funny episode. Personally, though, I'd rather see Matt's Doctor with fresh faces and new relationships rather than borrowing so heavily from the past....I'd probably be more enthusiastic about seeing Jack again if I did not have the option of seeing him anytime I like on Torchwood, right now. Just my thoughts....

I liked to see Captain Jack back with the 12th Doctor. Like John said his Doctor was the 10th and I don't think the 11th Doctor and the way the show is currently written meshes with Captain Jack. Hopefully we'll get a more mature looking 12th Doctor, and then see the return of Captain Jack.
