Comic-Con Belongs to Doctor Who in 2011

In an excellent article about the relatively recent trend towards emphasizing television at the San Diego Comic-Con, io9 touched upon how Doctor Who went from TV sideshow to front-liner.
When Doctor Who descended on San Diego Comic-Con in 2009, the British time-travelling juggernaut brought along megastar David Tennant and producer Russell T. Davies. But Comic-Con still stuck the Doctor in Ballroom 20, the smaller hall where television shows go.

It's just part of a trend — 2011 is the year that television dominates Comic-Con.

And as Daemons TV reminds us, the Doctor Who festivities this year involve a great panel and some footage of Series 6.
Stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan make their first Comic-Con appearance for a panel and Q&A with Doctor Who writer Toby Whithouse (Being Human creator) and executive producers Piers Wenger and Beth Willis. They’re bringing with them, exclusive new footage from the new episodes airing later this summer on BBC AMERICA.
If you happen to be in the area and can somehow get tickets, please help fill those 6,000 seats, if only in honor of those of us who would but can't hike over to California. And if you are going, then Life, Doctor Who & Combom would be more than happy to share your pictures, videos, or reports on the Doctor Who- and Torchwood-related events there, especially those concerning the Who panel and Series 6 footage.
