Read Doctor Who The Dark Dimension Rehersal Script Here

The Dark Dimension was a planned direct-to-video Doctor Who film commissioned by BBC Enterprises, that was to have been released in 1993 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Doctor Who, written by Adrian Rigelsford. Later known as Lost in the Dark Dimension, it ran into obstacles which prevented it from being produced.

At vast personal expense (ahem) here is the script for you to read (not my scan), I assume its genuine, its well worth the time reading it;

Combom, you always offer up the coolest stuff. Thanks! Getting a big grin out of this. Starts out a bit rough and it is majorly timey wimey, but it gets better. I think it would lend itself well to being a comic.

I'd also like to know how this is supposed to be downloaded as a PDF. I very much want to read this again and can find it easier with it on my computer rather than bookmarked somewhere that I'll forget.

Also, pity it was never made. I think it would have made an amazing episode.

Finished reading this tonight. Out loud, for full effect. Laughed ourselves silly over some of the spelling errors and I got some mumbles from the resident military expert regarding a few misconceptions. Over all, though, we got a kick out of it. Worth the read, even though reading it on issuu was challenging at times. Some neat ideas and crafty fades from one scene to the next. Some inspired dialogue here and there as well. The Brig has serious game, which was a delight. Go, Brig! He is one of the best characters in the story. And the ending sequence with him was really touching.

We liked the characterization of the Doctors in general. Five's exchange with the Cyber was good and Six in the court room also good. He got some of the best lines in the script. The exchange between Ace and the Doctor toward the end was quite nice as well. Four had some fab bits, too.

While it was exciting I must say that the Epic Battle between the Doctor and the Creature was, uhm, a bit hard to swallow. We had an awful time seeing the Fourth Doctor in that role. 8, 9, or 10 (never mind 11, sorry Matt xx) running over the rooftop, swinging a sword? Yeah. It would be oh-so-David Tennant. Jon Pertwee back in his day, even. But 4? Not so much. In his heyday, maybe, but when this was written, Tom Baker was in his 60's. The more we thought about that, the more we just couldn't see it actually playing out that way on screen. Ah, to roll back the hands of time...

Anyhoo (anywho?), thanks again for posting it Combom. It was an enjoyable read and a neat glimpse into Whovian history that might have been. I still think it would make a terrific comic/graphic novel. Would that I had the artistic talent to do it justice.

THE FUTURE – 2525 (Caption I)

THE LAST WINTER... (Caption II)

I.                     EXT.       WASTELAND DUSK                          I.

The burning red sun beams

across the horizon, as it
slowly starts to set. An
electrical storm crackles
overhead...

Lightning flashes across the
summit of a steep embankment
...We glimpse the rubble-
strewn, desolate landscape.

Small fires smolder in the
shadows that could once have
been buildings...

Five figures rise into view
over the embankment; Each
one is encased in hi-tech
armour. The ECO-TROOPS all
start to search the area...

Small glowing lights on
either side of their helmets
strobe across the ground,
making them look quite alien.

EVERITT, the ECO-TROOP closing
in towards the camera, spots
something...

EVERITT

There’s something down
there...

Close in on MASON, crouching
down, examining the mud as
the other ECO-TROOPS pass.
There is a trail of thick
whit, glass-like dust on
the ground...

MASON

It’s been here...

Ground Level POV. As the

ECO-TROOPS move into view
all looking down...

SUMMERFIELD, their Leader,
pushes towards the front,
as she removes her helmet.
She’s a striking young woman,
with a cropped haircut...

(Continued.....)

- 2 -

I.     (Continued…)                                    I.

The other ECO-TROOOPS remove
their helmets. We see that
they are all women...

SUMMERFEILD stoops down and
examines a BODY, lying face
down in the mud.

As she rises, her face is

grim...

SUMMERFIELD

We’re too late...He’s
dead...

Another flash of lightning.

We pan down to the body....
With a black umbrella, with
a red question-mark handle,
clutched tightly in his left
hand... It’s clearly the body
of the SEVENTH DOCTOR...
