Now-Famous Doctor Who Dalek Cosplayer

This Dalek cosplayer from Comic-Con has rapidly gained fame across the Internet as the "cutest cosplayer" in a very long while. Although BBC America originally published this image, it has climbed up from site to site to site. Why has this young woman been showcased everywhere? I'll give you one guess.

Torchwood: Miracle Day 404 Escape to LA Report

I have just watched Torchwood: Miracle Day 404 Escape to LA, and its another hit, here!

Each episode seems to have at least 1 tense section, this time its getting the biometric information to break into Phicorp, very good. Oswalds speech was good too, and the overflow camps, are they plague ships or nazi death camps? The woman in the car crusher, her personal eternal hell! Its all hotting up thats for sure!

A new society is being forged on earth, the rise of the families is coming!

Can't wait for the next one! Great!

Job Opportunity: Join Team Combom!

Entries Close at 8pm GMT Saturday.

This post has been temporarily bumped up. You may see it repeatedly over the next few days.

Do you think you could be part of Team Combom? Do you enjoy Doctor Who, brilliant journalism, and general silliness? We do two of those three, and so can you! This is a job opportunity involving the emerging world of blogging, and you can be a permanent member of Life, Doctor Who & Combom.

Just read the following advertisement and fill out our application. Note, however, that this job is unpaid but relatively simple to do, and while we expect commitment, there's no need to drop everything just to work on this site.

(Apologies for the length of this post and how it rambles all over the place.)

The sad and wonderful truth is that Life, Doctor Who & Combom has outgrown its core team. Over the last month or so, the primary team members have had problems finding time for posting; it's not that we don't love you all anymore, but we need some extra help around here. We all have other things in our lives, and spreading the work among more members would improve our efficiency and reliability.

No one in Team Combom is reducing work output. We just want someone to help raise that total output. Simply put, sometimes we need to ask for help, and this is one of these times!

Are you a frequent reader or even a regular commenter? Do you read everything Doctor Who from a variety of sources? Have you said all along you should be one of us? Do you have what it takes?

We are looking for a good poster who can find and post Whoniverse news. The specifics are simple. Just read articles, find clever Who-related news and whatnot, and post it with good writing and source credit. Of course, we'll also expect this poster to go above and beyond duty.

But we're not just looking for an occasional poster. We aren't interested in people who can only make a post a week, or five a week, or one a day, or even two or three a day. We are looking for someone who is genuinely hardcore, who knows what is going on in the Whoniverse, and who wants to share their knowledge with other people. Life, Doctor Who & Combom is a hugely popular, growing site, and so we're looking for someone who wants to grow and learn and become part of the Who blogging experience. Yes, we're looking for another Combom or 10th Planet, and we know you're out there!

If you're reading this, you're probably a Whovian, otherwise, you're very lost. Everyone here loves Doctor Who and loves to talk about it and watch it, to share theories and revel in it. We want help from someone who wants to be more than just a bystander. You don't have to just read the news; you can write the news!

Perhaps you think you can improve on the job parameters and add in some fresh ideas! If so, that's great, and we'll love to hear those ideas from you. Nevertheless, coming up for 7.5 million hits does mean we have got something right in our format.

Regular readers know what an opportunity this is. Though we've enjoyed a steady stream of guest bloggers, we rarely advertise a full-time position like this. Today's chance probably won't appear again for a long while. We don't need to do this often, but Combom has grown to the point that we do need another Who news reporter.

Combom has a life outside of the Internet (he claims :) ), 10thPlanet is still in the US education system, and PCJonathan is already worked to the bone. We know that our newest team member won't devote his or her entire life to this blog; if so, that's probably a person too boring to interact with anyway. We're looking for someone who looks beyond how busy he or she is, someone who will contribute frequently and consistently, on a daily basis, to this blog, allowing it to grow all the more.

You are probably already aware of the kind of things we post. Below is a list of what we expect from our latest member (Not videos though, PCJonathan looks after those quite well, thank you very much.)

Requirements:
  • You must have time to post. Honestly, posting doesn't take that much out of anyone's day. It's easy to juggle your job and life with blogging. We're just looking for a fourth permanent member to alleviate some pressure off of ourselves and also post more daily.
  • A mature attitude. This means you don't behave like you are 11-years-old. You must be responsible and have the ability to tie your own shoelaces :)
  • The English language is essential. We are an English blog, after all (American English is fine. 10th survives on it.)
  • You need to have knowledge of the New Series. Classic Who is a bonus, but it's not essential.
  • We don't mind what country you're from, your race, your creed, your sexual orientation, your colour, your life story, or your sex. Seriously, it doesn't matter to us.
  • We do expect you to stick to our rules, such as keeping posts family friendly. We will not be used as an advertising platform either!
  • You must have a sense of humour. You must be able to get along with others. You must be a team player, though we'll certainly welcome anyone willing to break the mold and make this team better.
  • You must tell the truth on your application form. Lying is not a plus.
  • We give you all the support you need, though we're not going to babysit you 24/7. Team Combom is really just a group of friends, and friends are always willing to help.
  • We don't mind you taking vacations and sabbaticals, as long as you inform us ahead of time.
  • Very Important: You cannot get bored after a week or two, or stop when school holidays are over, or just remember that you have something better to do, et cetera, ad infenitum. Please, think a little while ahead. Will university or school education be in the way? Or a new job, a new love, or the time you dress as a pantomime horse at Halloween? We're very lenient with short breaks, but this is a full-time, long-term membership on Team Combom. This position may not be strenuous, but it's not a temp job.
Anyone applying will, of course, have their name kept private, and any unsuccessful applicants will never be spoken of to others. There is no embarrassment attached if you are unsuccessful.
Below is the application form. If you've read through this massive post and are happy with everything, please fill it in honestly, to the best of your ability.

We would also like to see a sample of your work. You can give it in this application or during the "callback" process.

Perhaps you already have a site or blog? If so, please provide a link, or please E-mail us a proper sample of your work. You don't need previous blogging experience to join. Blogger is simple to learn, and we're more than happy to educate a newbie. As for the writing sample, a Whoniverse-related review is good, or something of some professional-ish quality. We just need to see how good you are. No one will get in without a sample of work. Quality is paramount.

Being part of Team Combom can be added to your CV. In these dark days, finding a job can be hard in certain areas. Although this is unwaged and offers no benefits, saying you're part of one of the Internet's most popular Doctor Who blogs is at least a point of pride. We may be just the stepping stone you need! If not, you can help improve this blog to make it that stepping stone.

We are leaving this application open for a little while, so you don't need to apply this exact second, but don't make us wait forever, as you will miss out. Consider your answers carefully. Make sure you understand the requirements. Depending on how many people apply, our response time to your application could vary, but we promise to get back with everyone who applies. We may have "callback" rounds if decisions are tough, or we may even decide to add in more than one permanent member. Just apply, and see how it goes!

And just to stop rumours before they start . . . Neither Combom, 10th Planet, or PCJonathan will be leaving or retiring any time soon. We will all still be posting at the usual rate. We are still hardcore. We are still a machine. But this machine could be made even more efficient.
