'Original' TARDIS Console arrives at the Doctor Who Experience.

This past weekend the Doctor Who Experience Cardiff, the number one Doctor Who tourist attraction in the world, celebrated it's first birthday (belatedly, it would seem) with the installation of the replica of the original TARDIS console.  The console, built for the upcoming docu-drama An Adventure in Space and Time, written by Mark Gatiss,  in which David Bradley plays William Hartnell as he steps into the role of the first Doctor, was last seen at Comic Con Paris, but it seemed it was only a matter of time before it found its logical home at the Experience.

The console, which is on display in the mezzanine area of the Experience, alongside later TARDIS designs, was an iconic piece of 1960s set design.  It really laid down the template for all that was to come so that even 50 years later the current TARDIS console shares the same, instantly recognisable hexagonal shape.  Despite its apparent simplicity in comparison to more recent designs, it still takes a lot of work to put together, as demonstrated by this time lapse video:
