A simple commentary about "Closing Time," which gave the Three Who Rule ample time to discuss the great chemistry between Matt Smith and guest star James Corden, instead devolved into a simply rancid discussion on babies and their propensity to poop on this episode of Radio Free Skaro. Our choice of topic says more about us than it does about the episode at hand, which was a delightful romp penned by Gareth Roberts and not at all a treatise on infants and their digestive habits. But leaving the puerile giggling aside for the moment, weighty matters as fictitious awards, possibly crappy video games and the life and quick death of Doctor Who Insider were also covered. All this and backhanded compliments aimed at Eric Roberts, and you've got yourself approximately an hour of a podcast of some sort!

Doctor Who is currently being repeated on BBC Three every Friday and Saturday, 2 episodes a week (starting from yesterday). The BBC Listings only cover until the end of the Series so it is currently unknown if they will repeat every episode up until Doctor Who starts (Skaro's fingers & toes are crossed) which with someones clever brain could work out an estimate for the date the series would start?

Anyone want to volunteer to work it out?

Tune in at 19:00 in the UK on BBC Three to see School Reunion followed by The Girl in the Fireplace next Friday.

Falling file sharing Sites

After Megaupload was taken down by the US government, here, some other storage sites have voluntarily taken all warez, movies, TV shows, etc. offline. So far the list of sites seems to be;

Megaupload, Duckload, Hotfile, X7, Uploadbox, Fileserve, Filesonic, Filejungle, Uploadstation and Wupload - so if you find a link to something your after to these sites, chances are it won't work.

Word has it some Wupload links still work though.

This seems to be the lot, but there are still dozens more that still accept "questionable" uploads, just be careful out there! And before giving your name, address, credit card, or any other personal details to a site, I'd think carefully about who may end up with them, and what may happen to you the future!

"As far as I know at the moment, everything’s still very much on hold. Russell [T Davies] has things happening in his personal life.

"John [Barrowman] is very much on the same page as me, in that if and when they need us, they can just pick the phone up and we will be there before they’ve even put the phone down, because it’s something we love doing.

"Nothing’s going to happen in 2012, I know that much for sure. But who knows what will happen in 2013. Maybe a movie, to kinda draw a line under it.

"That’s the thing about Torchwood, every series we’ve changed our format. We’ve always had a gap in between, so fingers crossed, because we’ve got such an outstanding loyal fan base. They deserve Torchwood to go ahead with something else to draw a line under it, for the fans to have a bit of closure.

An asteroid will pass by the Earth today, at about time of posting, in something of a cosmic near-miss, making its closest approach at about 16:00 GMT.

The asteroid, estimated to be about 11m (36ft) in diameter, was first detected on Wednesday. At its closest, the space rock - named 2012 BX34 - will pass within about 60,000km of Earth - less than a fifth of the distance to the Moon.

Astronomers stress that there is no cause for concern.

The North American magazine Doctor Who Insider has ceased publication, with Issue 9 being the last to be produced.

Kirsty Syson from Panini Email Customer Services said - I am sorry to advise you that Dr Who Insider has ceased publication effective from Issue 9. Please be assured letters are on the way to our subscribers explaining this matter and offering either a refund or transfer to Dr Who magazine. Once again I apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment caused in this matter.

The magazine was launched by Panini last year to complement Doctor Who Magazine, focussing on Doctor Who in the USA and Canada in collaboration with BBC Worldwide and BBC America.

Matt says “I’m here for the future, I love making the show. I have no plans to leave. I’ve got a year of Who and I’ll take it from there really. I am absolutely interested in films, I’ve always loved the idea and process of films and I am actually interested in directing.”

Or in other words, he may do more Doctor Who after series 7, they may film series 7 and 8 back to back even (my thought), I'm sure he is here for the 50th anniversary (what actor would miss being the Doctor for that?) Remember what happened to Tennant, after he left, he isn't as popular - Doctor Who is bigger than the actors in it.

Matt does express interest in movies though - and it is written in stone Matt will eventually leave Doctor Who!

Earthshock Producer John Nathan-Turner was keen to keep the return of the Cybermen a surprise, and thus ensured that this aspect was given no advance publicity – even going so far as to arrange for the studio observation galleries to be closed for the duration of recording and turning down Radio Times when they offered to feature the Cybermen in a cover photograph and article to mark the start of the story. The Cyber-Leader and Cyber-Lieutenant were referred to as simply Leader and Lieutenant in the combined Radio Times cast for Parts One/Two.

Solar storm's effects to lash Earth until Wednesday

Our planet is being bombarded by high-energy particles unleashed by the strongest solar storm since 2005, scientists say.

The charged particles are mostly a concern for satellites - which they can disrupt - and astronauts.

But they can also cause communication problems for aircraft travelling near the poles.

The geomagnetic storm has been caused by a potent flare that erupted from the Sun at 0400 GMT on Monday.

The effects are likely to be felt on Earth throughout Wednesday.

A more benign effect of the outpouring of particles is the ability to see aurorae, or "Northern lights", farther south than is usually possible.

Jeopardy! is a game of trivia, covering topics such as history, literature, pop culture, and science. During the game, three competing contestants select clues from a game board, up to 61 clues per game, each clue in the form of an answer to which they must supply correct responses, each response in the form of a question.

This was on a new episode, transmitted January 23rd 2012 (yesterday, s28e91), the last clue before the last commecial break, right before Final Jeopardy! I think we know the answer :)

Russian scientist claims evidence of life on Venus

The Indo-Asian News Service has reported that a Russian scientist Leonid Ksanfomaliti, published a paper in which he claimed evidence of life on planet Venus.

He announced that after analyzing photographs of the surface of planet Venus from a Russian space probe, he has found evidence of life on the planet.

Russell T Davies creates new CBBC Series

Back in November 2011, Russell T Davies, the writer who brought Doctor Who back to TV, has put his career on hold indefinitely following his partner's diagnosis with brain cancer, and moved back with his partner to Manchester from the USA.

Now RTD bounces back in the UK with Aliens Vs Wizards, to be filmed for CBBC at the new BBC Wales drama studios in Cardiff Bay (I think we are all aware of this :) ).

The new series has been created with Phil Ford, who worked with Davies on Doctor Who and children's spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Aliens Vs Wizards tells the story of two 16-year-old boys - a secret wizard and his scientist friend - who challenge the attempts of aliens to destroy the earth, it will be a series of 12 half-hour programmes produced by BBC Wales in association with FremantleMedia Enterprises for broadcast on CBBC in autumn 2012.
