...and the dad of Sam Troughton, who plays Much in Robin Hood! :) Yes, for some reason I'm still proud of myself that I know that. *snicker*

Really? Cool! I sort of brushed it off for the last few years because I just figured that Troughton might be a fairly common English surname.

Then the other day I was watching the first episode of Robin Hood and it struck me to at least check, so I checked Sam Troughton's IMDB page and there it was! Under Trivia: "He is the grandson of Patrick Troughton. He is the son of David Troughton and Alison Groves."

Small world, eh? He's also apparently an RSC member just like his dad and DT. :)

Ohh, I just keep finding more and more.

"In the early 1970s, he shared a flat with Colin Baker. Both Baker and his father Patrick Troughton are best known for playing the Doctor in "Doctor Who" (1963). Baker was later the best man at his wedding to Alison Groves and the godfather of his eldest son Sam Troughton."

It just goes to show that Doctor Who is one big family. :)

LOL! Good lord this is a very acting-heavy family. It says David Troughton's also the uncle of Harry Melling, who plays Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter movies.

Family gatherings must be a blast.
