Doctor Who Soviet Sonic Screwdriver Pen Projector

Greetings, comrades! Over the last few winters, there has been an incredible range of exciting, innovative products with the title of the greedy capitalist programme "Doctor Who" slapped over their lead casings. Our fearless leader has allowed remote-controlled Daleks, TARDIS figures, and sonic screwdrivers to all line the shelves of, most notably, Forbidden Planet, as well as other fine Soviet retailers. But sometimes they're products that even the Union would consider to be ludicrous, though bread is still more expensive. Once the BBC is seized by the glorious Union, then its decadent ways shall be placed under the strict guidance of communism, and everyone will be equal (though we will be more equal).

Let's march over to this strangely-named "sonic pen projector". What does it do? Well, what doesn't it do? (Fun.) In case you've forgotten what scenes from the show looked like, or if you've never owned a television, you can just press a button on the image projector, and you'll find a Dalek menacing your wall. Or Silurians. Or Amy Pond. (Wouldn't mind that as much.) There are 15 image discs, though projecting them in a screwdriver-like case is about all this product does. It doesn't seem to come with the three LR44 button cell batteries that it requires, and Forbidden Planet says little more than "relive scenes". Well, all I need to do is pop in a DVD, but sure, an £8.99 (about $13.50) sonic projector pen sounds fine. All the same, it's a cute, well-made toy for a kid, but it won't satisfy an avid collector . . . or a sane person.

Well, if you think the Soviet Screwdriver is bad, check out the Simpsons-themed one here.
