Matt Smith – out in Los Angeles to try make it as a star stateside – had a crowd of film makers and industry VIPs in stitches as he larked around on stage. He was taking part in an event called the 24 Hour Plays with an array of Hollywood stars including Eva Mendes and Jenna Elfman.

Stars in the audience included Minnie Driver and her Foo Fighters drummer boyfriend Taylor Hawkins and funny man Jason Sudekis. All the plays in the event are written the night before by various playwrights. The actors then spend just one day rehearsing before performing it.
