Doctor Who 50th Anniversary to Begin Filming This Month


The Latest Doctor Who Magazine (issue 458), which is out tomorrow has revealed the start date for the 50th Anniversary Special filming.

The camera's will start rolling on the big special on Monday 18th March 2013, just 12 days away as Doctor Who Magazine reports. It has also been officially confirmed that Nick Hurran will direct the episode.

Executive Producer Caro Skinner commented: "Marcus Wilson and I spend most of our time saying to one another: ‘Oh, good God, Steven Moffat’s imagination is AMBITIOUS.’ ‘Wow, we’ve got a lot of work to do.’ ‘And how exactly are we going to do that?’ ‘And that?’ ‘And, oooh, that?!’ But more succinctly, and in just four words: ‘It. Will. Be. Big."

In more related news, more casting has been made for An Adventure in Space and Time, The 50th Anniversary drama by Mark Gatiss.

Carole Ann Ford, who played Susan, will join William Russell as another original cast member in a different character role. Other cast news includes Mark Eden as the Controller of BBC One Donald Baverstock, David Annen will play set designer Peter Brachacki, Sam Hoare will act out the roll of Production assistant Douglas Camfield. More cast announced are Charlie Kemp as Arthur, Roger May as Len, Ross Gurney-Randall as Reg, Reece Pockney as Alan, and Cara 1Jenkins as Judith.

It was also announced that The Culture Show are making a Documentary for BBC2 to celebrate 50 years ,which will be presented by Matthew Sweet.
